Amateur Radio License in a Weekend Course – TECHNICIAN Level
For junior high and high school students, homeschool students, and adults interested in wireless communications and electronics, this fast-paced, two-day course will get you ready to take the Amateur Radio TECHNICIAN license exam.
Topics range from the science of radio electronics to the FCC rules governing the radio spectrum. Some preliminary reading and study is necessary to get the best results from this course. Material will be sent a few days before the course.
The TECHNICIAN level weekend courses runs for 6 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday and are held at New England Sci-Tech, 16 Tech Circle, Natick. You may also take this course ONLINE.
Included with course fee: printed handouts, lecture study guide, license fee if tested at our location, a guest pass to the NEAR/STARS Radio Room and radio club meetings for 3 months, and free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate during the course. Advance registration and payment required.
Up to 3 members of the same family may take this course for the price of one, sharing materials.
There is microwavable food available for snacks or lunch. Most items are $1. You are also welcome to bring your own food in and eat during the course.

Week-long Beginner Level Amateur Radio Course for Youth and Families

The GENERAL level courses run for 3 hours on each of four consecutive weekday evenings and are held at 16 Tech Circle, Natick. You may also take this course ONLINE.
Included with course fee: printed handouts, lecture study guide, license fee if tested at our location, a guest pass to the NEAR/STARS Radio Room and radio club meetings for 3 months, and free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate during the course.

Amateur Extra License in 10 Weeks – AE Level
For high school students, homeschool students, and adults who already have a GENERAL level license, this slower-paced course will get you ready to take the AMATEUR EXTRA license exam. You may jump into this course at ANY TIME, pay one course fee, and take 8 weeks worth of classes. A different topic group is covered each week; all topics covered in 8 week intervals. Take the exam whenever you are ready.
The course runs most Sunday evenings, 6-9 pm, at 16 Tech Circle, Natick. You may also take this course ONLINE. Regular homework reading and study is necessary to get the best results from this course.
Included with course fee: ARRL Extra Class License Manual*, printed handouts, presentations study guide, license fee if tested at our location, a guest pass to the NEAR/STARS Radio Room and HF equipment for 3 months, and free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate during the study sessions. Up to 3 members of the same family may take this course together. *One ARRL license manual per family.

Become a VE – Volunteer Examiner – free class
Calling all amateur radio licensed Generals and Amateur Extras! Become an ARRL VEC accredited VE (volunteer examiner) and join a local team. Free accreditation course.
Take this class if you want to get accredited or if you are already accredited and need a refresher. The first hour will be an overview of the FCC-NCVEC-VEC-VE relationship, the ARRL VEC, pertinent FCC rules, exam session forms, and exam procedures. In the second hour you will fill out the self-evaluation and VE application. We will mail these for you to the ARRL for processing.
The course is free, but we will have the ARRL VEC Manual and VE patches, pins, and lanyards available for sale at the course. The manual is available for free download from the ARRL web site. If you live in the Boston Metrowest region, we hope you will join the VE Team of New England Amateur Radio as well as others in the vicinity of your QTH.
